What exactly are you trying to do? According to Hollander interchange the frames will not fit. I beleive the difference is the how the trans mounts, and possibly the I beams. I do think that it is possible to take an older cab and put it on a newer frame. The cabs are the same size the biggest difference is the cosmedics.

If you are talking about an exact fit - I don't think so. I believe the older ones had a narrower frame than the newer ones. I've heard of it being done though. You would have to move (or possibly fabricate) the body mounts and various linkages. But if you are a capable welder (or know one) then it wouldn't be too tough. That would be a good truck, older looks with the newer frame with disc brakes and power steering.

I have a 79 F 150 4wd with a very rusted body. I
have a deal lined up on a 72 with a good body and was thinking of a switch. I may just wait until I can find a good 73. I want to stay older than 74
to exempt from Md. emissions laws.
