HELP NO HEAT

Hey all looking for help this morning started van to warm up went back in house 25 min later start to drive to work temp gauge is normal but no heat . its blowing strong but cold i changed the thermastat thinking it was stuck open but no help. now about a month ago i did disconect the exaust flap that would make that hissing noise[ forgot what its called) but always had good heat after that . could yhat flap in the exaust have moved aven know its disconected? help its cold in the northeast

why would the heat work 1 day and just stop is that what happens when the heater core goes

Usually when the heat goes away suddenly like that is because you have a coolant leak.
No coolant in the engine = no coolant flowing through the heater core.
Check your coolant level.

First, check the lines going to the heater core. Make sure they're both very hot (after fully warmed up, obviously). You can also reach up and feel the plenum under the passenger side kick panel. If it's warm, your blend door is probably stuck. If the lines and/or the plenum is cold, the heater core is clogged. Have you taken care of your coolant (clean/full)?? Heater cores usually fail by leaking in the cab and steaming up the windshield.

yes did have a coolant leak for a couple days thought it was the waterpump but yesterday started it up in morning and warm it up but no heat . went to work (50 miles and froze)on way home started it up and all coolant leaked out, turns out the thermastat housing rotted so had mechanic change upper and lower housing and thermostat and still no heat ill check level in morning hopefully thats it

since the van did overheat and the coolant was change am i supposed to add a additive to it also how do you know if its full do you just keep adding coolant till it dont take it no more

ok let van idle to temp(20 min) checked both hoses behind battery far back and both felt warm coolant level is above full line and black box under passinger side dash feel alittle warm could it be the switch itself
