Have a question about a Voltage Regulator. Purchased a 60 Amp Alternator from Autozone that doesnt have a internal Voltage regulator. Question is What kind of Voltage Regulator did you folks go with. I see one in NPD for All Engs w/60 amp w/o internal regulator for 29.95. Wondering if this is right and what other stores(Oreillys Autozone)part # and store did you go with.....
I just completed rewiring my 56 f-100 using Ron Francis bare bonz harness. I purchased a voltage regulator from them and they listed in their instructions the most popular manufacturer's part numbers which I list below:
Ford Motor Co # E2PZ-10316A
Napa #VR-428
Standard #VR-166
Just go to your local auto parts store and give them these numbers.
I also installed a chrome 70 amp (externally regulated) during my rewiring project.
Assuming it's a Ford alternator, you can probably use a regulator from a 65-68 Mustang with the four terminals 1, A, S, F, which should be available at just about any auto parts store. Also, since you got the alternator at Auto Zone they should have the regulator to match it there.
