Can anyone please help me find information on a 1976 Ford Explorer pickup? Mine is complete with orginal hood ornament and hub caps. I have searched for 4 years now and have found nothing (not even a manual at some of the east coast's largest car/truck shows)
I know this forum is 2 years old, but I just came into a 76 Explorer and I am wondering when it comes to getting 3' drop I Beams or any other suspension/braking components. Am I looking for F100 or F150 parts? (setting it up for drag and it will only see the strip)
The "Explorer" package was available on F100-350's. It wasn't a separate model. Your truck should have emblems telling you whether it's an F100 or 150. The title (you do have a title, right?) should also tell you.
The VIN will also tell you. If it starts F10 it's an F100 (2WD) F15 is a 2WD F150.
Yeah I just haven't bothered to look it up on the title or in the door... I haven't really looked the truck over that much (thought it was a single model so dumb me lol) but I picked up the truck cuz I know it was banned from Firebird Raceway tell it got a roll cage with the factory 380 or 383 or whatever that ci is (I am pretty bad with engine sizes) I blame the new rear end the prevents owner put in it to hull a 5th wheel for the pass that got it banned.
thx for the info and I hope to post pics of the truck before I tare into it and then the work in progress, but it will be quite some time saving b4 i can start the suspension and the roll cage.
