@ Moto, if you can, grab the 2002-2004 Harley 5.4 2v motor with blower. it's pretty much a direct swap into your Expy, and you can run almost 400 HP with tuning & pulley
No, I don't think so. Because;
Not enough cams or valves.
No turbo.
My Mark VIII 4.6 engine makes 295 HP according to Ford.
Very few if any Mark VIIIs were made with forged crank, rods and pistons before the Cobra versions, according to my sources inside FOMOCO and they all used a 6 bolt flywheel bolt pattern. They did have aluminum blocks though.
The Navigator has always deviated from the Expedition in some mechanical and electronics. Not just cosmetic appearance. The Navigator has had different engines, transmissions, etc, while currently it has a different transfer case for 4x4 models.
Since the 2007 model year, it no longer shares the same transfer case as the Expedition.
The Expedition still gets a proper 4-wheel-drive system with low-lock, low range gearing, while the Navigator has been demoted to a single speed t-case. It can still lock the center differential (electronically-controlled electromagnetic multi-disc wet clutch pack) but cannot engage low range gearing. It also does not have the off road torque recalibration program that the Expedition has when 4-low-lock is engaged.
I suspect a refreshed Expedition around 2012 or so. Or at the very least some significant update(s). The refreshed Navigator may show up about the same time if Ford continues to see the Navigator through. The designers & engineers of the Expedition’s competitors are not resting, so the designers & engineers of the Expedition will not rest.
When I bought my Navigator, I wasn't smart enough to look at Expeditions. I only looked at the Escalade. The Lincoln was about $5k cheaper, rode better and had a nicer interior. I've been really happy with it. Personaly, I think they all look like hell, they're trucks.
Cadillac has arguably cleaner styling on the outside, but what difference does it really make? It's not going to get you better gas mileage or a quieter ride.
I think the Navigator's endering quality is that it is Ford's best shot at a truck, it has all the gizmos and electronic crap they make.
If I had it to do all over I would look at the Expedition. When I bought my Navigator I had been driving Town Cars and De Villes for years, really didn't understand the truck business. I was so clueless, I didn't trade in my 07 town Car, I kept it about 6 months to make sure we liked the truck, and then sold it. We were late to the SUV party for Chicagoans
My wife dirves a Mustang convertible, there seems to be a lot of people like us that have a Truck and a Mustang on these forums. Interesting.
Personally I hate the new escalades. . .I like the first gens that had very unique styling. All the recent caddys look like chromey burbs. . . this coming from a guy that has owned and loves cadillacs.
OOOOhhh mustang. . .I am stoked for 5.0 to come back in 2011. . .being mid twenties. . .the 5.0 is what I grew up loving. .. that and the IROC. . . .rumor has it they are coming out with a BOSS version in 2012. That is just about the time we are looking for another vehicle to add to the fleet. . . . .
5.0 is nice an all...but I can put put more power to the ground with my 4.6. 10 PSI and a stroker kit is in the works. I'm hoping for 500 RWHP at minimum. The new 5.0 has such a high compression from the factory that it doesn't lend itself well to boost
