just purchased a 1951 f-6 with a 14' factory script bed and was wondering if anyone knows what it's worth.the metal's in pretty good shape but needs wood
If it's original and it's in useable shape , it's worth anywhere from alot to quite alot! They are VERY hard to find in good shape! Need to see the pictures!
going to pick it up this weekend had a warm spell now gotta wait for it to freeze again post pics of getting loaded till then thanks for the encouragement
I had a 9' script bed last year the wood was all old and rotted but it had almost all of the side boards and original metal hardware. Sold it for 400 I think the shipping cost him more than that? I think there might be more demand for shorter ones just because I think more people are restoring the smaller trucks but I could be wrong?
Cheers
josh
Original flat beds are like replacement wheels for the big trucks, everyone seems to want them but they don't want to pay a reasonable price for them. I bought an extremely nice 9' bed about five years ago, wood was bad but the metal is almost perfect and it had every single piece of hardware, I got it for $200. Northern Classic Trucks use to sell new reproduction beds for all sizes from $3000 to 4500 but stopped because there was not enough demand for them. I would think if your bed is in very good shape, only needing wood, it's worth around $400-500 if you can find some one who is willing to pay that much. As mentioned before, the shipping is the real killer. I think the bed Josh is talking about a person near me bought it after I gave him Josh's information, and yes, the shipping was more than the bed. If you could find some one close by you're going to get more for it, if it's got to be shipped you're going to have to cut the price. I drove 100 miles, one way, to get mine.
