Ya I know me and my friend Joey took every once we had to pick one of those things off the ground to load it in the back of my truck, and it wasn't pretty!....really like 480? I Can't believe I can lift like half of that!??
The axle is in Milwaukee and I'm just east of Salt Lake City. Roughly 1,400 miles each way. I think gas, meals and lodging would be significantly more than shipping.
I listed the axle on uship, which was surprisingly painless. After listing it I got about 10 bids virtually instantly. I accepted the low bid of $141.00.
I'll post again when it's delivered and let everybody know how things worked out.
Lots of horror stories about uship too. I read one not too long ago about a guy that had a pickup shipped that never showed up. Make sure the bidder has a mc number and write up a load confirmation, U-ship doesnt verify or care if a bidder is a legal carrier and is absolutely not responsible if your freight never shows or of the condition. That said there are plenty of good and happy transactions there too.
Your experiance was with the shipper, U-ship has nothing to do with the delivery or the shipping they just get a brokerage fee, so next time it will be a different party you actually deal with and can quite possibally be a different experiance. Not knocking u-ship but all they have to do with your shipment is offer you a place to put the shipment up for bids, They are out of it once you accept a bid and have nothing else to do with your shipment.
Great you got it but I really wonder how that deal was done ? $141 would not even cover the fuel. How far away did you have to go to pick it up, or did it come right to you ?
