Thank you so much for your sympathy. It is very much appreciated. Now it's a matter of trying to get my brother-in-law and 6-year old niece and 1-year old nephew to move from MO to GA.

I have run both and I am not bashing either company. Both have excellent customer service. My 80e with DP seemed more powerful than my current PHP 80hp. But, I believe the 80e dynos for more than 80hp. From what I understand, it is more like a 100hp program. But, of the two, I totally recommend PHP. The tunes do not rattle as much. They are tuned to come into play when the motor is warm and therefore you can keep the truck in a setting and leave it. The DP tunes sounded absolutely frightening when the motor was cold. I would run it in stock until the motor warmed up. The DP tunes are louder at highway temps. The pedal was not linear with DP. There were some dead spots and some explosive spots. My PHP tunes are perfectly linear. The truck is safe for my wife to drive. A 6spd psd is not user friendly to the occassional manual transmission driver. With the DP tunes, it was dangerous for my wife. The PHP tunes are wife friendly.
To me, there is no need for more than 6 tunes. I am only running a stock, 50, 80 and whisper, and no start.
I liked the customer service of both companies. But with very fair pricing, excellent knowledge, the TS platform (which allows you to try other tuner's tunes), I don't think you can go wrong.
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think Bill at PHP wrote the software that a lot of other tuners use to tune trucks.
If you do go with DP and you want a linear pedal feel, just mention that to Jody and he may be able to adjust the tune.

Sorry for your loss Corey, cancer is a mean thing.

To the original poster you live in Kansas you might want to check out Brians Truck Shop, Tony Wildman at www.totaldieselperformance.com or Matt at gearheadautomotiveperformance since they are closer for living tuning. But they are all great tuners.

I really enjoy my PHP chip. I picked it up from Jim at Rosewood.

It doesn't smoke a lot except on my extreme setting, and that is what I like.
I'm not big into the smoke thing.
If I was to have it reburned, I would drop my stock setting for a lope idle or a smoke tune for fun, I don't bother with it anymore.

Another very satisfied PHP customer.
Six speed stick and the throttle is perfectly linear.
Excellent EGT control, even when towing heavy up a mountain pass.

And Corey, my condolances.
You'll never get over the loss, you just move on in life and treasure the memories.
My little brother passed away some 15 years ago now and I still miss him, the little bugger.

I too am sorry for your loss Corey. I am trying to deside between the Dp and PHP I am leaning your way as my PSD is a family vehicle and am looking at sound as one of my purchase points. Is there a good way to contact you email or phone. Family comes first 100% if you would like me to contact you later I can do that, let me know a convient time. Thanks and "knee mail" sent for your family.

Gonna be trying out PHP myself I cant say anything bad about my DP chip except I could black out the road on my 80e setting. I would just barely get on the throttle and that point where you have little boost but are lightly excellerating and the classic diesel chug starts. Yah i would black out the road, have been riding around in my tow tune to keep from blacking out the roads lol

Sorry for your loss Corey. Thoughts and prayers go out to you and yours during this turbulent time.

To the OP. I too have read, watched and researched many of the different points of view of most the tuners represented here and feel that PHP is the way to go for me. It seems all the tuners have outstanding customer service, and wonderful individuals behind the different brands; there have been plenty of posts stating as much, so that is a wash for me. From the reports from the various loyal customers of the major tuners it seems PHP can and has delivered what I am looking for; reliable predictable power for daily driving, and consistent power and EGT control while hauling or towing. To be fair, if I wanted a little more sizzle and a little less steak (not meant derogatory), I might go with DP, as they seem to give the guys with the heavy right feet what they want when they “blip” the skinny pedal. For my personal driving needs and truck use (isn’t that what it comes down to anyway) I need to haul a 3500 pound truck camper and tow a 5K pound Scout on a 2K pound trailer, and sometimes I need to do both simultaneously.
<o> </o>
Something else to consider is where are you going to end with your mods? If you will stay basically stock and only add a high flow intake and exhaust, IMO adding anything beyond an 80-100 hp tune really has diminishing returns because the rest of the engine has not been modded to keep pace for the fuel/oil flow demands. I think beyond 80-100 hp tuner levels in a basically stock truck is just “neat to have” as far as utility goes. Again, “neat to have” is not bad; just don’t assume you are suddenly running around with a true 120-140 extra HP under your foot in an otherwise stock truck just because the dash **** “says so.”

I don't have one but it looks like lower EGT and less smoke with PHP, i would probably go with PHP since it is the closet to me.
My condolences.

Corey sorry to hear about your loss, I have experienced the loss of a loved one to cancer and it is not fun. I like some before are satisfied with my DP. That is nothing against PHP or Swamps ,BTS or any of the others. I tow heavy loads and all directions from my house are uphill, egts are low and I have no worries. Decel is used often. I am a satisfied customer.
