ok,so im a dummy!

so i went to attemp the serpentine belt replacement,and i cant locate the tension lock.ive heard all u guys say it can be done in 15 min but....i cant even see down to to the tensioner to locate the lock.any quick info would b appriciated,in procees replacing now.

you cant see it well not with your eyes.... learn to see with your hands.

left hand side of motor about 3/4 way down idler pulley, it has a 1/2 drive notch in it.

its a small metal tab on the side of it. its 3/4 of the way down on the tensioner on the lower right. its nearly impossible to see.

I tried to get a pic of the lock tab.. The belt is tensioned.. I think this is it..

and we have a winner that is it. pull the belt and push in the tab slowly release the belt.

you must have a small camera.

I was actually able to zoom in from above the motor. If you get at just the right angle and look way down in there.....

thats the pic i was looking for,thanx...so to unlock do u repeat the process in reverse.pull belt and slowly pull tab out?

so is that for the 04 as well i tried to do mine and i almost torched the damm thing it was that frustrating so you cant just stick the 1/2 down there you have to unlock this tab first

How many miles? You might want to consider replacing the tensioner and idler while you are into it.
