Hey fellas,
I need to get a couple things for my truck and I was going to just go to advance but I was wondering if they are the best place to go, I need new front rotors and swaybar bushings.
Thanks,
Drew
I have had good luck with advance auto parts in my town. I have bought brake pads, rotors, ball joints, axle seals, u joints, etc. they had everything in stock except axel seals and they got them the same day. I have found them to keep alot more in stock then other auto parts stores!
I use Advance Auto Parts for about everything. Just about everything from any of them is made in some foreign land anymore but Advance carries Motorcraft, Moog, Purolator, Wagner and a hand full of other top names I like.
It depends on what they stock. Most likely rotors will be house brand, and I wouldn't use them. Same with the Gold/Silver/Econo pads. I'm not so sold on Wagner brake parts either.
They should have TRW, OE brand and Moog bushings. As long as you get Moog parts your okay. OE brand is garabage and the managers know it, TRW is somewhat okay, but for this heavy of a vehicle, there is no need to risk them.
ReAx, youd be surprised the quality of the auto parts stores rotors. ive been using autozones on the front of my truck for 3 years now. very high quality compared to fords. still dont have any warping, very smooth pedal. even after some OH S&$# stops!
I'm not because I get to handle the commercial parts returns on a regular basis. I've run a high end shop before this pos job and I have a pretty decent eye for what's nice and what's cheap.
What difference does it make if the managers know the OE brand is garbage? People should be educated enough to know you get what you pay for. I've known some shops to install stuff like that, but I don't use anything bug MOOG (80% of the time) and TRW the rest. I wouldn't put that stuff on my vehicle I sure wouldn't put it on another.
We haven't always had this much selection in parts though, many years ago I just bought what they sold me, usually because there weren't other choices.
I guess I would rather someone have a poor quality ball joint than a broken one on their car because that is what they could afford though, and I guess that i why the offer it.
The Advanced Auto around here is a POS. They will hire anyone who can speak English and Spanish. The employees know nothing about auto's or trucks. The first thing they ask you is what year and what make and if you want something custom they have no clue. There are so many great sites on this forum to order from that I never buy local any more. You just have to order a few days before you start your project. RANT OVER
