i have a 79 ford 150 that i am puttin 3/4 axle under, coil springs in the front and leafs in the rear. I have 9 inch leaf and 9 inch coils im going to flip my shackles on the back side of my rear axle, what should that gain me in the front. and what can i do to the front to make the truck sit level? thanks alot
One easy way to drop the front bucket is build a template of the hole patern behind the stock bucket out of 3/16" plate, then bolt the lower holes to the upper holes on your bucket. cut the bottom half and throw a gusset on the top and you've got an extra 4" of lift, and it'll bolt back up to your frame in the origional spot. Did that on mine to compensate for the rear. You can also build a coil spacer for the bottom
are you talkin about the fron bucket of my rear springs? and do you have a clue how much lift ill get if i just flip my back shackles? thanks could you go over that one more time i didnt quite pick up on that thanks alot sorry to be a pain
oo sorry i think i understand i tihnk sorry i miss read it, but what you mean by cuttin the bottom of the plate and that part then where do i put it after that?
So your going to get a scrap piece of metal that will cover the 4 holes in your coil bucket. Place it behind the bucket and drill the 4 holes. Once this is done take the plate off the back of your bucket and bolt the bottom holes of the plate to the top holes of the coil bucket. Once you have weld the plate to your bucket. After that put a small gusset between the top of the plate and the top of the coil bucket for support. Once this is done trim the bottom of the coil bucket below your new plate and you will have a very nice looking coil bucket with a 4" drop that is very strong and bolts up to the origional location. You should get around 3-4" of lift by flipping the shackles. I just don't recomend this if you have lift springs since it'll really push your axle forward and won't be very centered in your wheel well, but this can be done with junk yard parts. Don't do what I did and spend the $125 on a set of brackets
