Chevy Leaf Springs

After this weekend I think wheeling is done for me this year till snow falls . So my to-do list till then is get my suspension to flex better and get rid of axle hop. I'm going to get deaver coil springs for the front, build a ladder bar for the rear to get rid of axle wrap and Im thinkin 64 inch chevy rear springs. What years can I find the 3 inch wide 64 long springs that would be best to use out of?

Not sure on the spring question, but extending your radius arms up front will help you with flex.

Also if you have a block in the rear eliminating that will help a good bit with your axle wrap issue.

Chebby rear springs are only 2.5 inches wide. If you are gonna uses these you will have to change both hangers. You can often use a chabby hanger and a shackle flip kit for the chebby.
I have had better success with 2000 and up spring packs. These have a teflon slider and better bushing.

There was a thread on the install here in this forum not long ago.

Broncograveyard has replacement hangers that will accomodate this leaf width.

I would like to extend my radius arms a little and use a hiem joint at the ends but i'm not sure if ill do that, either way my springs in front are too stiff. I have a 2 inch block in the back and it would help to remove it but I know there will still be some axle wrap. So Ill build something to assure no axle wrap.

I thought most chevys had 2.5 rear springs but I guess with the little I've read it was my understanding that they were a pretty much a bolt on with moving the hangers so i thought there was some years that had 3 inch that were desirable. Thanks for the info!

i agree with captain on this,

i would bet that it would seem alot softer and flex alot better with longer radius arms that have heim joints. short arms with the kind of bushings that ford used didn't exactly equate to a free moving suspention. you go to soft and the truck will bottom out too easily.

This is true, I am still leaving options open and just lookin for a better suspension set. Lengthening would'nt be a hard job to do and wouldn't take to much time.
