You can't get a cop past a donut shop. My gun goes right by one. I have a pic of a Howards donut shop in Memphis with 18 police cars in the parking lot. No emergency just 18 cars stopped for a donut.
.
I was working the street one night, a guy comes out of his check cashing business with his night drop, and 2 dirtbag hoodies come out of the used car lot next door. He takes off running, crosses eight lanes, gets on his phone and calls 911. 5 police cars go screaming to the robbery attempt, and the guy is standing...in the Krispy Kreme lot, and the Hot n Now light just popped on. I had a dozen complaints from irate citizens complaining about the cops using their sirens to go for donuts.....
Sounds like the guy knew where to run.LOL. Don't think I'm against the police. They do a great job. I just believe in protecting myself. The police will be my first call if I'm ever forced to use my gun. I'll make the call after I defend myself.
The town chief told me once that if I had an intruder to make sure the body was found inside the house and not moving, preferably with some sort of weapon in its hand ...
When I lived in the county one of the deputies said that if anything ever happened to dump the body on the beach inside city limits ... Let them do the paperwork ...

Maryland is quite different.
We are 'required' to escape the danger, IF at all possible. (Up to and including evacuating our own house!!!)
IF we use 'deadly force', we must be in fear of our life, or the life of a loved one.
Many years ago (back in the early '70s), a man shot an intruder as he came through the window of his home, here, in Maryland.
The intruder fell backward and wound up outside the dwelling.
The homeowner was charged and prosecuted for murder.
The homeowner was acquitted, but not until after a lonnnnnng, lengthy trial. (And the homeowner has never gotten his revolver back, either!)

In Texas we're 'required' not to injure innocent bystanders if we miss.
Remember they guy in Pasedena (Joe Horn) who shot 2 bad guys that were stealing from his neighbor while he was on the phone with 911 and being told not to get involved? The grand jury did not press any charges against him. We can even carry a pistol in our vehicle without any type of license.
I guess you could say we're just a tad more gun friendly down here.
