1995 f150 front fuel pump problem

I have a 1995 v-8 351 f150 with dual tanks. The rear tank works fine but when switched to the front tank the engine immediatly dies. The switch on the dash is good and the gas gauge shows the front tank as full, which it is. No power was found in the wire between the relay and the pump. Relay works fine. The snap-on machine read code #542. Any ideas?? Maybe its a ground problem? I do not know where the ground is. Any help would be much appriciated. Thanks!!!

Was the wiring disconnected from the tank when you were checking voltage? Does the wiring for the rear tank behave the same way?

Sounds like a bad (open) fuel pump.
The ground (G100) is on the drivers side radiator support but if the gauge is not pegged passed full then the ground is OK.
