You can move lots of snow with those little blowers, we have an old one (not even sure what make) that Dad bought when we were kids. We used to blow out for our cows when they had to walk to the watering area when it was really miserable as we did not have a heated shop. I know we have some pics of tunnels we cut through the banks that would not seem possible with something so small!
So for some of you guys - even if your tool is smalll, it can still do the job!!!
Mine cost $ 627 @ WalMart back in '96. It was about $ 800-900+ originally (can't recall exact price, long time ago), but I bought it in March, when WalMart was trying to clear all their winter stuff out...they were bringing in their spring stuff...it was the last one at the store .
I still recall the price I got it for as they put a permanent sticker on the auger shield -lol...that is still there. Walmart can really be ruthless in price cuts..occasionally...when they need the space and have lot's of different new, seasonal product coming in. I was at the right place at the right time.
It's been good and 5 hp/ 24 inches is all I need for my small suburban city lot.
Wow, and I was grumbling about the ice and dusting of snow on my windshield this morning. I feel bad for you guys.
We didn`t get all that much snow, it`s just all in the wrong places because of the wind, it did the damage. There isn`t alot of snow in our fields, just piled up around the buildings and driveway.
The best thing I ever did was to get a blade for the Bobcat, it works slick!
Well the Bobcat got going. So It cleared the snow around the shop and the house. Took nearly 2 hours. Man I'm frozen. My fingers atleast have thawed. but my thighs and toes are still chilled. With the wind factor it is -30 outside right now. Darn machine doen't start when it is warmer, always decides to run when it is colder.
Now I just have to get the Escort covered and put a heater on it's motor to thaw out whatever is frozen that keeps the power from getting to the starter. Has lots of juice. Just nothing getting to the starter. I figure it has to be some snow somewhere that got sprayed into it.
Checked the connections last winter when I had starter troubles and again when I put the new starter in. Could not find anything.
I think the Sunday drive going through those snowdrifts, it probally got moisture where it shouldm't be and froze sitting over night. I will get it heated.
Glen, I do believe my block heater isn't working, (or it's the cord on it), so my old truck has been hard to start when it's been really cold out. One thing I have tried is to turn the key almost till it starts, then release it, wait a couple of seconds, then turn it all the way. Instead of giving me grief and quitting, she starts and stays running. Not sure why, but it's been working. Just a goofy thought.
My Ranger does the same thing NG when I do the same with the key, when I release the key I think it gives the fuel pump a chance to more pump fuel to the injectors for starting. I`m not sure but it does help, it usually starts and runs fine when I do this in this cold weather. It`s in side my unheated shop where it`s alot warmer then in my uninsulated garage.

I thought it might have something to do with the fuel/fuel pump, but wasn't sure. Knock on wood, it's still working. I don't even have a carport, never mind a garage, heated or not. Getting colder here now.
I`m glad I have shops and garages, it`s alot nicer to park inside when it`s really cold out. Even with no heat on the shop is about -12/15 when it`s -30/35 outside so I don`t have to plug in and the heater fan doesn`t squeal.
I sure do wish I had a garage, even unheated. HowI hate that squealing sound in the morning, I keep waiting for something to go flying off from under the hood, or for the darn thing to explode into a million pieces, haha. Reminds me of finger nails on a chalkboard
Good night Morris, and all the rest of you eskimos.
Got a Ariens 27" 11.5 hp, workes good. saved $400 from paying retail.
That is about the same size is mine, your going to like that. My neighbor said we got 11" of snow on sunday. I still have some more to do,so I"m going to leave the kids at the babysitters and then go at it for a bit.
