Has anyone done a right up on the easy way to remove the alternator in the 6.0? I want to make sure I do this the easy way but I can't figure out how to loosen the tension on the tensioner pully. Anyone have pictures? Detailed instructions?

takes 2 people..
pully the belt then have someone lock the tab on the tensioner.
disconnect both battery grounds.
remove 3 13mm bolts.
disconnect wires from alternator.
install is the same but backwards.
Alot of guys just pull really hard on the serpentine belt, towards the passenger side, until they can get it off....
Down below the alternator, on the front of the engine, is the idler pulley.. It has a recess for a 1/2" square drive and a breaker bar fits in there nice.. There's a locking lever to hold the pulley so the belt is in a relaxed state(I don't use the tab).. Once you have the belt off of the alternator pulley, it's just a matter of disconnecting the electrical leads, and unbolting the unit and replacing it..
ive used a framing hammer and a claw hammer at different times. put the nail puller end of the hammer under the belt use the altenator case for leverage then lock the little kick stand that keeps the tension off the idler pully. remove the 3 bolts then the reverse to get it back on. after you have done it once it will take litterally like 10 mins

Real PIA to get a 1/2" breaker bar in there due to the fact that the hole for it is not angled. It sits level, to where when you put the breaker in there there is no room to push it in to loosen the belt. I used a 1/2" ratchet, to adjust the drive angle, and a small piece of pipe for leverage.
Also remember to remove the top piece from the fan shroud. Gives you easier access.
I just replaced my alternator a couple of weeks ago. I just held the alternator in place and unbolted it. Then I tipped it forward and the belt came off easily. To put it back on, have it tipped forward with the belt in place and push the alternator back down and bolt it on. You may have to pull up on the belt to get it to seat all the way. It took me about 15 mins to get it off and about 15 to get it back on.
