I was stopped at a light and the truck shut off and wouldnt restart. i had to get it towed back to the house and i dont know what is wrong. i dont even hear the fuel pump turning on and my check engine and glowplugs lights wont go out. i just changed cps with no help. i tried plugging in my super chip tuner to read codes and it just said error!!!!!! HELP!!!!!
Use your other key to see if the theft system has just refused to recognize your currently-used transponder key, or if it's a general failure of the PATS, or even the entire Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
The Vehicle Security Module (VSM) has power coming in from a number of sources, so be sure to check fuse numbers 7, 17, 19, & 50. Also, check #34 and 44, as those power the anti-theft transciever module.
There are other things on those fuses, too, that may have gone defective to blow the fuse.
well i tried my wifes key and no change, i checked the fuses and they were all good, i tried plugging in my tuner again to read the codes and it said comm. error i am lost
im pretty familiar with the truck but am not a mechanic..i have the super tuner 1705 that is a code reader as well, im thinking it might be the pcm? any thoughts are greatly appreciated
Check, clean and charge the batteries. Even relatively low voltage will do screwy things to these systems.
It most certainly will. Also clean the battery and cable terminals. I had the same thing happen to me when my batteries were weak. Seemed like they were ok, but truck wouldn't start and had all that weird stuff you described happen. Mine was a bad alternator (I didn't notice) and after driving it around for a while obviously the batteries were drained.
i will try the batteries, but the truck still wants to crank but doesnt and i dont even hear the after market fuel pump turn on either. would bad batteries kill the truck like that at an idle? thanx again for all your help this forum is a God send!!!!!

A whole new meaning to Drive it like you stole it...sorry, thats all I got, not much help on this one. I would have pointed to a loose connection on a battery as well.
i replaced the batteries and still no luck, i check the voltage at the alternator and it was perfect, i guess it is pointing to the pcm or the vsm. i am left with no other option but to go to the stealership. to get the pcm replaced is 375 that includes the keys being reprogrammed. that is still a guess at the problem. i want to push this truck deeeeeeeeep in the ocean!!!!!!!

Are you sure you have an after market fuel pump? What pump do you have? You should hear the fuel pump come on when you turn the key on. Is the pump under the drivers side seat on the frame rail?
