i have a fass pump adjustable high performance pump that i installed, but i didnt even think to check it because i didnt think that would cause the theft light to freak out and not only that but it is 3 mo. old. the truck is at the dealership now so we will see how much they want to rape me for.

From the sound of things I think the PCM may be fried, either that or the VSM may have lost it's mind. Regardless, if you have a 7.3, it'll be an easy fix for you, if you have a 6.0, we'll pray that the dealer will be gentle.
Again regardless, let us know what it is, becuase it's easier to pay a diagnostic fee and tow your truck home, than pay the hundreds perhaps thousands the dealer may want to fix something we know how to fix for a more reasonable price...
Newbies tend not to report back their resolution, leaving subsequent owners with similar problems hanging. It sorta' thwarts the real purpose of a forum like this.
There are two kinds of folks that visit here. One tends to read most everything and store away the knowledge for when they need it themselves and when they can assist others. They log in frequently. They tend to be "helpers" or "givers".
The other pops in when they have a problem, get some advice, and are gone. They are among the "takers" of the world. This guy's last post at FTE was on 3/10/2010, so he's obviously not still around.
Since the thread is a year and a half old, we may never know.
