I put one on my 49, it made it steer a little better, took some of the wandering out but I'm probably going to to put a power rack on in the future. I just spent a small fortune on the flathead this winter so the rack has to wait a bit.
Hi pete, i installed one on My 50 F-1 to see if it would help with a severe shake at 50 mph, no help the shake was caused by a out of balance front brake drum, wich was brand new oh well. The stabelizer did not help with road wander or bump steer ,I relpaced tie rods, adjusted camber, then replaced pitman arm, spindle arm ball, rebuilt drag link, repl spring pins, and bushings and finally rebuilt the steering box wich finally took care of all my steering problems. You probably dont need all that, i was only trying to show that sometimes its not one thing but a combination of things that cause a problem. this is my first advice post , i hope the old timers go easy on me. fact is i was abel to find all the help i needed by going thru old posts and a little internet time . i hope you find your cause quick and easy. JIMMY
The main thing that kit will do is stop the bump and jerk charasteristics of our trucks. You know the one where if you hit a pot hole it rips the steering wheel out of you hand.
It's basically a shock absorber bolted between the axel and tie rod, and it buffers rapid movement of the tie rod and thus the front wheels.
