Stupid Question...Anyone ever go through the trails under the big high voltage lines?
Anyone got some good stories? I know I do.

Actually they are a very good trail tire. Just not a mud tire. That might be why they call them Geolander. You took them off-land.

Well I actually do have a funny story. Back when I had my old 89 2X4 F-150 I was ridding some with my buddy who had a huge lifted F-250 with one of those Ranch Hand bumpers. So we were ridding and of course I got stuck so we're just standing there when we see a cop car coming. Apparently your not allowed to do that. So I jump in the truck and he rams me in the tailgate and pushes me out of the mud and we hide down in the woods till we thought the cop left. But it turns out he was just turning around and wasn't even after us, but still pretty funny. The tailgate has a big dent in it now but its Built Ford Tough so the truck is fine.

Whats your story?

I'll agree Bill. BFG 's can push through some nasty stuff. I have these on my dually and with in reason it's like 4wd, oh there are 4 wheels back there.

Basically, I figured it was illigal to go through the path in the power lines, so I never took my truck in, just dirt bikes and such, but then some stupid buddies of mine decided to start going in there with their "offroad vehicles".
The reason I say this in quotations is because the "offroad vehicle" was a leased dodge Nitro with balled highway tires on it, but the thing was somehow an absolute tank off road.

Needless to say, the thing got stuck one friday night with a few guys in there. Everyone calls the guy with the big truck to get them out.

So the next morning, me and a buddy with an F150 pulled them out, and then proceeded to go trespassing on more land around the area. The odd thing was that when we were in there, a HUGE military helicopter was hovering over us for probably 30 seconds or so with the doors open.

A few weeks later we were at it again, only with a jeep and my F350...Bad idea.

The jeep got stuck, and when I tried to pull it out, I got stuck in a rut with my front tires and plow mount.

We ended up pushing the jeep out and trying to pull my truck out with the jeep and my friend's F150, but the thing wouldn't budge.

So we left it over night, just like we did with the Nitro.

The next morning we went prepared with some redneck gadgets to try to get my truck out, and HOLY CRAP THE TRUCK IS GONE!

The National guard and the police went back there with a tow truck and a boom winch, and possibly some sort of tank(we saw tracks) and towed it out.

So I got yelled at by the police, but because I was nice, they did not kill me with the Tresspassing charge, or destruction of property charge.
They did however Charge me with Reckless Operation on Private Property, and I got my license suspended for 6 months. Also, the tow bill was about $400.

So Don't go back there...EVER. They actually take tractors with weights back there to make ruts so that Idiots like me get stuck trying to pull out idiot friends.

Lock it where you leave it, but you may not find it where you left it if it was on government property and the cops found it...

So there you go, that's my story. I learned from it and I hope you do too!

"they" can do a lot, had a similar experience on our quads up at the gas lines. My girlfriend and my buddy were with me out to meet a few other friends that were locals to a riding spot that we had been using for years. Just North of Pittsburgh by about a half hour. We had parked, due to lack of space at the trailhead, farther down the road next to a decommissioned rail siding. Thats what saved us. The police had several units out in the woods that day and were posing as riders needing assistance. So when you stopped to give a hand, you were cited on the spot and God help you if you had beers with you. We saw it happen and rode immediately back to our vehicle. Since we still had another trail to ride to get to where we parked I thought we were done for. Im not sure what made us so lucky, but I can only guess that the cops had been only watching the main trails leaving the trailhead, because we got back to the truck without seeing another officer. We loaded the quads onto the trailer and drove off in our muddy gear. The following Wednesday we found out through friends at the local ATV shop that the police had impounded more than 20 quads/bikes, issued a countless number of citations, arrested four DUI's, one possession by a minor charge, and impounded several (unknown number) trailers and tow vehicles that Saturday alone (one of which was a F550 with a dump bed they used to haul their quads in). I don't know if what the police did would hold up in court, but they got the point across 'cause i don't know anyone that rides back there anymore. Unfortunately, as the world gets smaller, terms like four wheelin', muddin', two trackin', bushin', etc. will only be used in reference to good times in past thence.

Wow, that is harsh.

What made that riding spot off limits?

I never found out what the deal was, mostly just out of sheer laziness. I can only speculate. There was piping exposed in the woods and several areas that were fenced off that had utility buildings. Im not sure if it was a natural gas well or just a junction point, but again plenty of piping, pressure relief systems, and lots of signs indicating buried pipelines. I suppose it could be privately owned by the gas co.There was also the rail tracks, could also be RR property? I went back once since that day, not with intention of riding, but just to see if they had done anything or if people were still going there. The whole trailhead area had been barricaded with what can only be described as the same fencing (filled with rock) that is used to preserve beach front against tides and storm surges. There was also some Jersey barriers blocking the actual trails leaving the trailhead, along with boulders and piling. So, now there is no place to park, no way to safely get around or over the obstacles, and its very obvious that no one is supposed to be there, but still not one "No Trespassing" sign.

Depending on where you live, I think that some states and local authorities are responding to potential "threats" to public works (electricity, gas, water) in this post 9/11 era. It could also be that some states and local authorities are not "friendly" to recreational vehicles and activities.
