Al, was the failure of that seal the cause of the damages in your torque converter? Were there other damages in the transmission itself, since the fluid gos so full of debris?

In my case it appears that the clutch mechanism in the torque converter failed, causing slippage and the converter shell showed signs of overheating. I think that's why the fluid gets burned so quickly. I had a large plate type trans cooler installed at the time which in my opinion saved the trans from complete breakdown

The Aeros all have two factory A/T coolers, one in the radiator, one oil to air. I added a third inline cooler in 2012.

I have about 200 miles on it since the TC replacement, and seems to be working OK.
