BRAKE PAD MINIMUM THICKNESS
I just got my truck (2001 F350 7.3L 4X4 CC DRW) back from dealership service and they noted that the front break pads were @ 4mm and need to be replaced. Is this a good suggestion or can I get a little bit more braking life out of them? The rotors were machined 10,000 mi ago and are not at minimum thickness. Rear braking components are in good shape. I will not be doing any major towing (2,000lbs bi-weekly max), and truck brakes fairly well. Would like to hear(read) some other suggestions and/or minimum front brake pad thickness values.

I would just replace them before you ruin the rotors, pads arent awfully exspensive, and if you think about it, its cheaper to replace them than what it could cost if something was to go wrong... I dont get why people push the issues with brakes, after all they are a very important feature to a vehicle and not really that expensive... yea 4mm sounds about right to replace just under a 1/4 inch
