OEM Brake Pads

Have a 2002, F450 w/ABS. What is the thickness of the front OEM brake pads when they were new, of course. Have 70,000 miles on the truck and want to check the wear status of the brake pads.

almost 1/4" I believe. I just changed the rear and that is about the thickness of them.

Your about due. I feel it's better replace them before you scar up the rotors. I do mine around 50k or when I am really bored. I think 65-75k is all you want to expect out of them.

Ford's service manual has a minimum thickness specification for the brake pads. Not sure what a 2002 F450 calls for, but it's actually something like 1mm for the Superduty for 2001.

Many people will say "that's too thin for a safety margin" and maybe it is.

The stock OEM pads for my 2001 were more like 1/2" thick, or maybe a little thicker.
