"NEW"2008

I hope we can discuss this without breaking forum rules because I thought I understood but I need some clearafication.
My understanding was that air polution is a planet problem. So if that is true, why would the USA promote using these trucks in other countries?

This is an add I cut and pasted 5 minutes ago

It is very upsetting to think how many countries are light years behind us in pollution control, and allowing the export of a diesel truck that does not conform to our emmiisons standards is so wrong. Ultimately it boils down to money and ignorance. Unfortunately in our lifetime we will not see any major changes overseas with these issues and it may contribute to our global demise. I have wrestled personally with doing the dpf removal on my own truck mainly because I would become part of the problem, not the solution. On the other side my fuel consumption has risen exponetially, so my carbon footprint might remain the same dpf or not due to the reduction in consumption I will gain. Mabye soem day we will find a way to influenece other countries to get on the bus.

I'm curious if these vehicles would still carry the MFG warranty.....

I'm pretty sure they would carry the full warranty considering the fact that ULSD is not available everywhere. Without ULSD the DPF systems would fail very prematurely.

They are exported because other nations not only need the vehicles for the work they do, they lack the right fuel to keep these emissions systems operative. Would you rather such a nation use a modern emissions controlled diesel like the 6.4 with it's NOx reducing EGR system or one of the older non-EPA engines such as the 7.3 which were built without any consideration of emissions.

Furthermore, such a truck would likely meet every emissions requirement short of the allowable soot production. Soot doesn't stay in the atmosphere; as such it's not really an air pollutant. Do some searches on Google and you'll see varying estimates of time it takes for soot to come down to earth. Large soot particles, such that the DPF would filter, normally settle to the ground within hours.

No they don't carry a manufacturer's warranty when exported.

The warranty only applies to the US domestic market.

Our new truck did not have a warranty and it was up to me to buy one.
