ENGINE KNOCK AT IDLE COLD OR WARM. It seems to get quieter above 1800 rpm. It is coming from passanger side valve cover. I took off oil fill cap and felt air blowing out. Like a valve wasnt seating. The blowing of air out is not consisent dosent do it all the time? Any help would greatly apprceiated.

The puffing air you feel from the oil cap is normal. As far as a noise from that area without hearing it would be hard to pinpoint. It could be a bad lifter, a follower on it's way out, bad valve spring or even a sunk valve.
Im having the same problem with mine its a 5.4 2006 but was built in 9/05 WTF is the deal?
I was just checking my noise and i can here the noise in my Valve covers it sounds like a sowing machine . My noise sounds like a bad lifter.
What year 5.4? I had a 1999 F350, it had a whistle sound for a few years on the right side. Turned out to be a cracked head. The early 5.4 were known to have that problem. I found it by looking up Ford recalls, there was service buliten about bad heads. Next day it went to the dealer, thats what they found. Cracked right head. Ford gave me a new long block. Never had another problem. Was still under warranty.

If your warranty is still active, then take the truck to the dealership for repair. An applicable TSB is not required.
#6 of the pre check questions catches my attention. My previous Hemi powered 2500HD called for 5w-20 oil. I lost sleep fretting over the misconception that 5w-20 was too thin to use in a V8 towing heavy loads in summer heat. So, with the 2500HD's not using MDS, I opted for Mobil-1 5w-30. I was planning on doing the same with my new 5.4L F250 but I've read on several Google searches that heavier oil can cause problems with the cam phasers. So here I go fretting about viscosity again. I'll be using 5w-20 in this one. Mobil-1 or Motorcraft? EESH!
Do not use heavier oil, yes, the cam phasers have potential problems and you will probably blow out the oil seals. They are engineered for 5 20. I use motorcraft semi synthetic.
i dont like motorcraft oil at all, i've been using mobil 1 since the first oil change but recently changed to valvoline full synthetic the last twochanges and i like it better than mobil 1. my motor is a lot quieter in the mourning during first start ups. plus it doesnt look like smoked oil when you change it.
