<HR style="COLOR: #ffffff" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Went to dealer for SP. They said no longer produced and replaced by Mercon LV.
Does this sound correct to anyone here that knows for certain about this?
Good news. LV was only 5.19 per qt.
Thanks

I respectfully would like to inform you that you might have paid too much for your Mercon LV. I purchased a quantity of it on 1/04/10 at the Ford dealer and my invoice gives a list price of $4.63 a quart and the net price they charged me was $4.16 I would find another dealer.
What is cloak and dagger ATF bs? I don't understand.
Fords mercon licensing issues is why you don't see any Mercon SP approved fluids
on the shelves of every auto parts store
that is why we are at gun point to find a dealer and pay $$ When I called the dealer a while ago I was quoted 6$ a quart ,,
this is the conclusion I came to after looking for alternatives and reading a bunch of sites so this is IMHO
I think the reason you don't see any other MERCON SP fluids is no other company wants to produce a fluid that can only be used in one transmission. It's not worth their time and expense to make it. It's not cloak and dagger, it's simple economics.
The International dealer has always been a good place for me to purchase overpriced "Ford" maint. items for the 6 liter maybe the fluid is the same for their VT365 too?
Mark I respectively don't agree ,, count the # of sp only transmissions that are out there and it is a huge market share
And I disagree with your whole statemnt. As much as I don't like overpaying for something, If I and you for that matter spent millions developing something, you also would try to proect your investment. Simple economics. You can't develop and then give it away. I do agree that they could lower the price but not lift their patents for other manf.
International does have a LCF medium duty truck with a VTxxx V6 and a TorqShift trans. That trans would use MERCON SP and International should have the fluid.
