Nope. Sorry man.

Looks like the "power bug" crawled up your ****.

Swap the 300 for a 351. Best bang for the buck.

If not, do a gear swap first. You don't seem to be lacking for money. 3.73's would wake your truck up. Those 3.08's suck with big tires (like your 31's).

lol....you think a K&N filter, a weird looking donut, a gasket, and chrome bolts are going to noticably improve your 300s performance?

If thats the case, you need to increase your knowledge of the 300. Seriously.

Does the 96 have the twin tubes coming off the throttle body to the airbox the same as my 88 donor?

Curious how that kit adapts them if so.

Edit ah the mass air version is different: Sure would be nice to see a picture of your set up for mass air conversion consideration.

I think thats your kit you are looking at with the k&n number. Nearly 10 horse projected gain. Might be a bit lofty of a claim but even if its only half, not bad.

Ain't that the truth. I'm not picking on him or anything, he obviously doesn't know yet, but it's kind of funny because it reminds me of how I was when I first got the power bug.

Unfortunately there just isn't much you can do to an EFI 300. Gears and exhaust are about it.

To the OP; You have big tires with highway gears. That's why you're looking for more power. Spend the money, swap the gears, and grin real big when your power returns.

Put a REAL exhaust system on that truck. Cut off cat #2 and replace #1 with a highflow and run a full length tailpipe with a straight thru muffler.

3.73's and exhaust and you'll be happy again.

just my opinion.

im lookin more for the axle swaps with better gears in them, the intake stuff can be homemade but some people are tards and think they know everything about what the poster is ACTUALLY going to do. hey any little gain is a gain, nothin wrong with that. i know the 300 cant make much more but again, any little gain is a gain

Actually, that's him being nice.(O_o) What we're trying to say is that the 300 is sort of a GI motor; it' a hard working truck motor but there just isn't a lot you can do to it. I've read the EFI 300's will only take a 15% increase in power before the computer starts to fritz.
Just do your research on here. Take a few hour at the minimum and just SEARCH, READ, SEARCH and read some more.

You might find simply waiting and saving cash to do a 351 swap would be in your best interest if you really want more power. Again, I say you would be surprised at how much more power your truck will have with decent gearing. My suggestion to you is do the 3.73 geat swap, and then go from there. If your 300 does't have enough power for you with the lower gearing the you'll never be happy with the 300.

LOL sorry 5.0, I'm just messing with you!

no he can deal with it, dont come into my post acting like a know nothin, your definitely wrong there. and bill i dont want a 351, id get a truck with a v8 if i wanted one ha, ive seen magazine with intakes for the inline 6's and one of the was just "the filter and a funny doughnut thing" and it gave good results over stock. ive got other plans for now like youve seen me say another muffler but dumped before the axle, im goin to get one of the powetrax lockers, and custom make the intake since i know thats not gonna be hard. im goin to find different axles before i go out and get all new gears, seals, yatta yatta to swap with for $1500 lol

NW 150, what is your name? I hate calling people by their screen name when they call me by my name. lol

Don't take this wrong but how much do you know about mechanics? Do you have any real world experience with upgrades? I just want to get a handle on how much experience you have with this stuff.

What size tire are you going to be using? Last I heard, you were going to go with 32 inchers. You do not need new axles for that. Why are you wanting new axles? What you need is new ring and pinions.

The powertrax locker is a great idea if you see lots of off roading. I have one in my truck. I like how it behaves. Just be careful on the break-in time. Go easy with it.

I don't think there's anything else I can help you with here so I'm going to unsubscribe. Threads like these tend to go down the crapper, lol. If you have any questions NW 150 just shoot me off a PM!

yea 32" ground hawgs. if i can find a set of axles with 3.55's or 3.73's already in them from a parts truck then i could be spending a few hundred dollars instead of 1500. the worst part would just be swapping them. remember ive got 4x4 so i have to deal with the power designed from end with no way to acces anything unless i drop the whole housing on the backside of it.

Yeah, the front end is the irritating part, especially since with a 4x4 setup, you have to do front and rear or you'll chew your whole gear setup apart when you use it. The gears will give you quite an improvement in power though, and as you said, if you get them from a junk yard and just swap the whole assemblies in, you're looking at a lot less money.

As said though, unfortunately, the EFI 300 doesn't allow a lot of flexibility. There are a few EFI friendly cams, etc. but nothing serious. Ford didn't program the stock computer to be very flexible, since it wasn't their big motor.

A full flowing, larger exhaust will do a lot for you though.

oh ive got the exhaust. its 3" piping with a super 44 and turned down after the axle. but im soon within the next couple months to take the existing piping the rear of the muffler and put a turndown there. i wanna custom make an intake. its soo sad that one of the most popular and best rated engines has literally the least performance parts made for it
