Rear washer fix

I'm guessing that the washer nozzles on the rear wiper arm froze solid. When the washer was turned on the pressure build up made a hose fitting pop off.

What I heard, then saw, was blue washer fluid pouring onto the cargo area rug.

I removed the ~3' plastic trim under the lift gate and the rearmost dome light. You can see the cutout over my pinky & ring fingers. I also removed the r/s trim panel, but think I could have left it in place.

Plugged it back together with some zip ties to strengthen all of the connections.

So far, all good

Mine didn't freeze but was leaking all over the passenger side carpet. Hose came off the fitting. I fixed by putting on a new section of hose, and zipped tied the heck out of it. Has worked great for 1 1/2 years. This is a known problem with the X

Mine did the same thing two years ago and I was using the typical blue washer mix. I've been using the Rain X premix since and have never had any of the nozzles freeze up since I've been using it.

When I bought my Ex from the dealer it had both the front and rear apart!!! It is a really bad design in my opinion.

Pretty interesting to see blue stuff coming out of your rear light though!

!
You win! You're the first one I know of to have the rear washer line separate in two places!

I need to get your phone number so I can find out which lottery numbers NOT to pick!

The cheap blue stuff can and will freeze. The Rain X brand is an excellent deicer and solvent. I use it all year round.

I have the same problem happening with my 02 Ex. I took a look at it yesterday before checking here. I figured it was a hose that had come disconnected. I got the trim piece down, but how does the rearmost dome light attach. I didn't want to mess with it too much, as I am the king of breaking plastic tabs that are critical to things staying tight and rattle free . Just wanted to check here before I break something.

rear wiper leak

My rear wiper has a leak somewhere in the line after it enters the firewall. If I try to pump fluid, it leaks out right in front of the passenger door in the front. How does the line route thru from the reservoir to the rear?

Pull up the carpet in the passenger side foot well. The washer fluid line comes through the firewall up in the corner of the foot well area and has a 90 deg. fitting to let it change direction. Odds are your line has come disconnected from the fitting. You don't have to remove any panels to get the carpet up but it would be a bit easier. I just yanked mine up by hand and then muscled it back behind the trim panels when I was done. Took all of 5 minutes to rectify. Let us know how it turns out.

X2. That is what I did when my line poped off. I put it back on and it wasnt a week later if popped off again. I put a zip tie around it the last time and have not had a problem since!

I guess I now am a reluctant member of the leaking washer fluid club. We had a few weeks of really cold temps, sub-temps. Today was in the lower 40s so I was out changing the fuel filter when I noticed blue fluid coming out the front of the rear wheel well. I suspect I will have to pull the rear interior panel to get to this one.

Anybody got any pics of how to pull the rear passenger side panel? Instruction would be good too. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I was thinking I was so smart for finding my "hose pop-off" last night...I was going to start a Post.

Then, I did a search and lo-and-behold...you all had all the answers.

Mine popped off in the passenger footwell area. I was able to push the two hoses back together.

The only way I figured this out was from the blue fluid dripping out of the body seam below the passenger seat. I'm now also using Rain-X fluid and all seems to be working well.

I wanna give a big THANKS to all that posted info for this issue. I finally got the time and some good weather to go through and check where the leak was coming from. It turned out to be under the dash and not in the back. What a relief.

Thanks again, you guys are awesome...
