Collapsed Hyd Roller Lifters Q

Is it possible to collapse hydraulic lifters from lack of oil pressure to the point of them not being able to "pump" back up after pressure is restored?

Anything is possible but that one isn't too likely.. so what exactly is the story behind this question?

Oil pressure was lost for a few min, now the valve train has ratchety-ratchety (as best as I can describe) noise. Pressure is postively restored. No rod knock or piston slap from bottom end.

Why did the motor loose oil pressure? Like I said it's highly unlikely all the lifters would fail so it's more likely they are not getting oil pressure now because of a blockage or that some pushrods became displaced and got bent.

I had a 95 302 roller that did the same thing , after cleaning the pick up & replace oil pump , the lifters pumped back up some but , allways made noise , but ran fine . I replaced the motor so i never took it apart so see what it looked like ...Lew
