Just turned over 17k on my '09 F-150 Screw. It's got the 5.4 with 6 speed tranny. So far the only thing I've noticed is going up and down hills at varying speeds it will shift up and down; which seems quite normal to me. No shuddering or anything else. I've not tried the rolling forward/backward/reverse thing and really don't plan to. Oh, I also notice that little hard shift from 1st to 2nd, but it's no big deal and doesn't happen all the time. I think it's just according to my foot on the pedal. It certainly isn't a reason for me to mess with the techs trying to reflash or reprogram anything. It ain't broke, so I ain't fixing it.
I feel that I have a great truck. I had a ten year old Dodge Ram and now am a true blue oval convert.
i noticed the same thing. if u let off the gas just a bit when acelerating it will clunk going in to second. but if i just keep my foot in it it doesn't. i just hit 16000km and it seems to be working fine. it had a clunk when i first got it, no matter what i did. but it started to go away around 8000km
Wish you allthe luck with it.I love the truck and wish Ford would just replace the trans but they won't even drop the pan to see if there is metal in it.My only other quirm with it is is the fuel tank. Its great to take on 36 gallons but I live on a mountain and its quite a climb to the house in 4wd only.If I am just below 1/2 tank and stop on the hill and let the truck run it runs out of gas cayse all the fuel is in the back half of the massive tank .You have to get it on a flat to get it started and that stinks cause with no motor you have no brakes or steering.Did it 2 days ago too on a boat ramp when I was backed in getting my boat runnin to go fishin.Had to get pulled up to the flat ground to get it runnin. Thanks for the note.

Why don't you sell your Ford and get a real truck? Oh wait, you don't actually own a Ford do you?
wow lol. all my trucks that i have hand built are in my gallery. along with my brand new truck. And i run my own shop what do u do? I don't get tough on the computer. So all i'll do is laugh. have a nice day. lol
I had a clunk in my 09 and tech said that we should check the driveshaft splines for lube. They took off the drivedhaft and sure enough it was sticky, they cleaned it up and lube it. It is gone!

Never thought of that....good post and good catch by your tech. I will be sure to file that bit of information away for future use.
I googled my problem and found this thread.
I have a 2010 F150 Supercrew. A great truck and I have enjoyed it the 5 weeks I've had it. I bought it used with 1800 miles on it. It now has 3600. I wonder if the first owner unloaded it because of the transmission anomalies.
My truck has 'slipped' three times, twice yesterday. I have a full warranty so I'm going to wait a bit to see what is going to be done about it. It's almost as if there is a gear down lag when you accelerate causing it to slip down into lower gear. I've noticed it only in a parking lot, not on the road. It looks like a software problem to me.
There are TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) for the Shudder, vibration, metallic noise at low speeds, and Bump symptoms on some 2009-2010 F-150. They all seem to tie back to the Torque convertor.

I am dumbfounded by Fords CONTINUOUS inability to make a robust transmission. How is it that they cannot build a more reliable transmission than ones they made in the 1970's? How is it that a 40 year old C6 go hundreds of thousands of miles without even an oil change yet for the last 20+ years I have heard nothing but trouble with for transmission? If I was the CEO of ford I would created a division dedicated only to making a bullet proof transmissions. I have been wait 10 years to buy a new Ford truck but until I the come out with a model that I hear is problem free for at least 3 years I will continue to wait. BTW In case you think I am beeing to harsh. Here is a list of the bad Transmissions of mine and those that I know.
1987 Taurus. Bad trans at 99k
1989 Taurus Bad trans at 115k
1993 Taurus. Bad trans at 122k
1987-2002 Ford Explorers with band Transmissions. 14
All other makes with bad transmissions of people that I know in the last 20 years. 4

Here's what happened IMHO,
When Jack Nasser took over Ford in the 80's, that's when the wall street syndrome began...short term profits in my pocket, make the stockholders happy and lie about everything else.......
He forced quality cuts everywhere....from windshield thicknesses to outsourcing the transmission manufacturing (which for the majority of the transmissions was done in-house- except for special or limited production needs).
The New Ceo is making strides in getting the sr execs to come clean with the problems, but the trickle down theory on getting middle mgt, production staff etc on the same plain is going to take time.......it's a trust issue.....after 15 years of "I don't care I'm telling you it's right" from the CEO's (previous to B. Ford), and seeing what happened to those who previously tried and were used as "sacraficed lambs" combined with the back-door deals the exec mgt made with union officials, it's amazing the company still exists!
