Hey F-250,Glad to hear more positive things going on.That pressure difference could be what I mentioned, you can loose a little the farther you get from the source,if you had one mounted on your back bumper,it would get lower yet.She sounds like like your in business now.

Dude, you have no idea how relieved I am! I was starting to have dreams about it. Thanks.
I know you're all sick of hearing about this problem, but not 1/100 as sick as I am telling it!
I thought I had the problem solved, or at least livable. Since I did the oil/filter change three days ago, I have watched my psi drop in almost daily increments from 18 psi hot in gear at idle, to 11.5.
But get this: Today when the cab gauge was reading 11.5 hot at idle in gear, I put it in park and checked the gauge mounted on the engine. It was reading 25 psi!!!
I know you are going to say that maybe the first engine was good, but the bearings did get wiped out, and I changed gauges when I had that engine in.
Anyway, I'm going to swap out the plastic line to the cab with copper, and bleed it before installation, and see if that helps any.
make sure to put a couple of loops in the copper, like a pig tail before you go through the firewall, vibration over a period of time with heated copper causes it to become brittle, then you will wish for low oil pressure when it baths you in hot oil.
I think your 1st engine had a problem,But now I think you have a line or gauge problem. This is why I suggested dual gauges, you know that something is up because you have conflicting readings.I would believe that one one the engine,no line to fool up anything, and is more in line with what you were getting. There is also a possibility that the gauge is going bad, because of progressively reading lower.I can't even count how many cheap gauges I have used over the years, and really never had any trouble with them (except tachometers ),I guess it's getting hard to get anything of quality anymore.I never get tired of hearing about your engine,I'm interested in what is going on with it,that's what this forum is about. If anyone gets tired of hearing about it,they don't have to read it.They also don't have the work and money in it that you do.Dustys' right about that copper coil, gives you a little flex from engine movement and the copper can harden and,an oil pressure line leak is a real mess, probably would happen right in heavy traffic, you know how it goes.Keep us posted.
Thanks, Buster. I bought an AutoMeter when the problem first arose back when, because I thought it was the best. I will contact the firm I bought it from to see about replacement. Ford used an electric gauge, and I think I'll do the same this time around. One electric, and one manual in the engine box.
I always listen to Dusty. He is very helpful, and he knows his engines like a pro.
Very glad to hear that the light at the end of the tunnel is not a train coming at you. Like many others--- knew there was an answer, just had to find it. Major points for you for sticking with it, and putting up with all the advise/suggestions. NOW GET OUT THERE AND ENJOY, YOU DESERVE IT. OBCB
I called AutoMeter, and they said: "manual gauges either work or they don't." He didn't even stay on the phone when I got irate!!
Checked my plastic line to the gauge, bled it too. Going by the gauge on the engine, I have 17 psi when hot in gear at idle, and that is fine. If it continues to drop .... I'm going to join a monastery and give up women and booze and die of boredom, a blissful life w/o an oil gauge. When I can I think I'll try an electric gauge. Maybe Ford had one there for a reason.
Hey Flip--I'm thinking your idle setting is for a manual trans, right? I just set mine by the book.
I would say 17# @ 750rpm hot is pretty good.Maybe you should go on e-bay and just buy a good used Stewart Warner, one of the older good ones.I have had more trouble with electronic ones than mechanical ones. The one on my wife's Explorer changes every time I turn around, probably a bad sender or some fly crap under the connector,or,or....... I think the SW gauges went to a different name, probably a different country too.I've seen mechanical gauges on tractors over 40yrs old still working great. The prices I have seen on Auto Meters' gauges, they should be guaranteed for life! After all the problems you have been through,I'd be tempted to put my foot in somebodies a**.I would package that worthless piece of junk up and send it to them with a note that if they didn't replace it with a new one that worked right,I'd be telling everyone on this "world wide forum" just what kind of service I got.But that's my thoughts,I'm tired of all the low quality crap being sold today as high dollar stuff, and it isn't just auto parts,it's all kinds of merchandise.Sorry to rant and rave, but I'm old enough to remember quality.
