Just bought my first FORD.Its a 67 Bronco 289,3 on the tree, wagon all original but it has been cut.Dana 30 up front,I guess it has a dana 20 case,I believe thats what it was in 67. Anyway, 9 inch out back....dont know why Im telling all this yall know what it has.
The thing is it has a power steering set up on it that actually uses the manual steering box!The power unit that bolts to the manual box has (Schrillo Co. L.A.) on it.
I know power wasnt available till 73,so we have that out of the way.The original owner said he bought it from the dealer that way.
He bought it at Golden Motors Inc. in Golden Co.
The owners manual has the warrantee card in it for the Warn lockouts, with the date of purchase. So its hard for me to believe that this is some jerry rig set up,everything fits too well... how would the spline be perfect so it fits the manual box and not be bronco spacific?
My steering box is sloppy loose and the worm gear is busted up a little from some metal shards I found in it. So Im looking for a good manual box. I just dont want to pay the 5&6 hundred avg price for one.I would like to have a good (tight) used one if anyone has one lying around they dont need let me know.
If anyone has any info on this style system let me know!
THANKS
I'd have to see a picture of that to even understand it. I converted my 66 to PS and I have the old box I took off. Condition unknown, I bought the whole Bronco in pieces. You are welcome to it for the shipping. There are a few on E-bay also.

1975Stroppebaja has the link to a pic.Ive had Ford guys with bigtime reputation tell me that it doesnt exists,im crazy, some one built it out of a junk yard.etc...Id like to have the box, that would help me out alot.Mine is toast, its not even rebuildable. The secter shaft and worm gear are the problem. But anyway,do I use pay pal ? Never done that so ill haveto set up an account there. Thanks!
When you get a chance, post up some pics of your build progress.
I sure will. thanks. I always said I would never own a Ford product, Ive always had gm. And now Im a tech at the Nissan Plant in Smyrna,TN so I drive a Titan my wife has the Armada,I also have a 88 hardbody that Ive customized.
BUT when my father-in-law said he was going to sale the Bronco
I freaked.I said" no way that things an icon dont sale it! "
So after a few folks looked at it he said" I know your not a ford fan but if you want it ill let you have it for half price "(2,000) .I had to buy it! And Im haveing the time of my life hunting down parts, joining Ford websites to get help, and the folks are all great! I have a new passion! The Ford Bronco!Im now a proud "BLUE OVAL" owner!!!!Thanks.
I'll go out here and check it out a bit to see if it's worth the trouble. I just pulled it off the frame and don't even know if it's any good at all. Give me your zip code/e-mail and I'll let you know condition and shipping cost.
Checked it out. It was frozen up, but I took the top off and freeded it up. They take 90w gear oil and someone has replaced with grease(common fix) so I imagine the seals were leaking. Little bit of play, but not much and a rough spot where it was stuck. Still you are welcome to it. A rebuilt one runs about $350 w/core. You might think about just putting a stock PS setup on it. I bought a complete used PS unit w/ box, pump and hoses for $200 off a 74 Bronco.
