351m/400 block question

I bought this block in pieces with the understanding it was 351m. In the lifter valley it has 400 cast on it. What does this mean? Also on both sides of the lifter valley walls it has a 1 inch threaded plug that goes into the cylinder water jackets. I have a another 335 series block and it was cast at the MCC plant. The lifter valley is way different, no threaded plugs and it has 4 small holes for the oil to drian down. The 351m I bought has two small holes in the middle and a oblong hole in the front and back with cast ridges around them. Why are they so different? The block I block it has the DIF casting on it and the heads have D1AE on them. I compared the rod and piston length with a set of 400 and they are 1/2 inch shorter so its 351m right?

Sorry for so many questions, choose one and answer it if you want. Thanks.

Which is shorter? The pistons? Or the rods? 351M and 400 use the same rods.

Your other 335 series block...what is it?? 351C? 351M? 400?

And are they both BIG BLOCK bellhousings??

.Ok so I screwed up when I compared the two pistons. They are both 400. I found a web site bubba something , anyways he posted a section on crank shafts and one is a 5ma and the other is 5mab.

You have a '71 400 block. Nothing special about it, just cast a little different
