Yea people have been trying to buy that bed every since I built it.
I'm still debating whether to leave the flatbed and just change the cab or use the brown bed too.
With the pickup bed it would be a nice pickup, but the flatbed is sure handy if your working out of it.
Just to tease you guys in the rust belt. I pulled the carpet so I could keep it inside and so it would not get wet and rust the floor boards that bit of surface rust is the worst on the on the whole thing.
Here is all that is left.lol I removed the whole fueline system in one piece.
Also all the brake lines all the way to the mastercylinder in one piece.
the wiring harness all the way to the tailights are still on the cab, along with the speedo cable.
My turn, I just bought yesterday the new truck in my sig. A 1989 F150 for 300$!!!!! Yes 300$ and yes that's the orignal mileage!!!! Mint condition! No rust what's so ever! Rust proofed and oil under coated every 2 years since new, rarelly winter driven (farm truck) have all the original papers and bills for everything. Was 2 yougn teenagers who had it for sell, no box, no windsheild and has 1 leaky brake line. Drove it home (35 miles) made a windshield for it (clear plastic) duct taped it all around and filled up the brake fluid and away we go. I was driving the F150 and my son was fallowing me in the 7.3 incase something would happen and need a tow home. Nothing happen, infact it runs and drives like a brand new truck other than having no front brakes. What surprises me is that it's a farm truck with no body damage, has no box though, so god knows what happen to it, did come with a tailgate though witch isn't that bad. Has a big dent on the inside but still straight and rust free.
Yea this one has sat for about 4 years without a rear window in it since I've had it and no rust. even the spring bolts were not rusted and came right out of the leaf springs.
I even removed the exhaust all in one piece with the brackets still on it and it looks like it is a year old, but is the stock exhaust. both tanks look like new nearly along with all straps. I had one bolt turn in the bed that I had to use the smoke wrench on the rest came out easy. I will start stripping an 86 single cab 4x4 tomorrow, But I wont be near as particular so it will go a lot quicker.
Star: u have a 3.55 R&P set you'd part with. Beating around the idea of trying them out instead of my 4.56's. Sterling 10.25 long or short if you have the yoke
I'm not sure what the one I'm dismantling starting tommorow is. I just got rid of a complete rear out of a 91 that was 3.55. the one I'll start on tomorrow is a 460 I bought it for the 4spd and tcase. I want the gas tranny in my dually.
Actually that floor damage is comparable to mine. Dare I say, mine is cleaner, but the outside still took a beating over the years. Doors and fenders are not salvagable, and the box is probably not worth fixing either.
David that picture looks worse most of the paint is bright just a little that has surface rust. I was afraid it would be rusty even though the underneath looks great because of the carpet, and yhe missing rear window, but was suprised to see nothing deeper than the paint and very little of that. Nothing that one piece of paper and 5 minutes wouldnt brighten right up.
I want to pull my interior out of my truck and address any, if any issues. I Line-Xed my Jeep's interior and then reinstalled carpet. It was much better. I'd like to do that to the truck. If there's a lot of rust, I'll have to clean it up real good and I might POR-15 it.
Did they still use that gorilla snot (black putty/packing used to seal up crevices in vehicles) in these trucks?
