If your fuel pump is leaking it can and probably will cause a miss. Diesels don't like air in the lines or low fuel pressure.

X2 what RRranch said. Fix the known fuel pump problem and see if this fixes the miss. Ya need to fix the fuel pump anyway.

Reading your signature you have 72psi fuel pressure. That is more than enough to properly run your truck. I am not sure if the IDM is the same or not. Take your buddies IDM off of his truck and see if it runs better.

I don't know the difference other than International has the black one. My best friend works there and he can get me those. So the next time I need a spare, I will get it from him.

your truck being a '97 should have the grey CPS. GO TO FORD!!! not napa. there was a recall on the '97 CPS and if it hasn't been taken in yet then its free.

the '94.5-'95s use the black CPS. ask for a '97 at ford and get a grey. ask for a '95 and get a black. did it. asked for both at the same time. haha

My '95 started off with an occasional miss and later progressed to dying at highway speeds for no reason. I changed the CPS with one I got online and the problem got worse. I got one from the local dealership and the truck ran fine. Apparently these can die at any time and even be bad out of the box. I'd try changing it one more time.

Glad you got it fixed. To answer your question on the IDM,Yes it will work in the earlier trucks. As a matter of fact alot of guys get the SD ones cuz they operate on higher voltage, which is supposed to help fire the injector better. Many guys get "modded" ones that are even higher than the SDs
