Question Proportioning valve question

Before I get flamed, I did search but didn't find the answer I needed, so here goes.

My 67 F250 4x4 has manual drums. I don't want to convert to discs, but I would like improved braking.
My thought is to swap in a vacuum assist unit and wind up with power drums.
One other proviso: my cab is a 68...

Qustions:
1: From what I've read there were three different proportioning valves used in 67. Do I need to change mine from what I've got?

2: Also, from what I've read the 67 booster is different than 68-72. Is it different enough that I can't use a 68-72?

3: Can my existing master cylinder bolt onto the vacuum assist or do I need a different one?

Thanks!

If you're staying drums, you don't need a proportioning valve. Don't see any reason why you can't use the 68-72. Your existing master should work if the pushrod depth is correct.

Uh huh. There's one on the OP's truck...now.

Ford installed a proportioning valve on EVERY 1967 and later Passenger Car, F100/350, Bronco & Econoline with a dual master cylinder.

In addition, 1968/72 F250 2WD's and F350's with (optional) power disc brakes use a brake pressure metering valve (C8TZ2B161A).

C7TZ2B257B .. Brake Differential Proportioning Valve

Fits: 1967 F100 4WD.

C7TZ2B257D .. Brake Differential Proportioning Valve

C8TZ2B257C .. Brake Differential Proportioning Valve

Fits: 1968/72 F250 4WD.

There are THREE more for 1967/72 F100/250 2WD's & F350's.

DarrellJ: F100/250 4WD's were not available with power drum brakes until 1972. 1976 was the first year disc brakes were available on 4WD's.

1967 F100/350's have a ONE YEAR ONLY: Brake (and Clutch) Pedal, the bracket they hang from under the dash, booster (2WD), master cylinder..and the firewall is 1967 only.

The cab is from a 1968, so I would assume the pedals and etc are too.

Bill, as always your knowledge and help are invaluable! Thanks!

Just so I'm clear then, I should go look for a booster off a 68-72 2wd f250, and the booster on my 67 2wd f250 parts truck will not fit (due to my 68 cab).
Is this correct?
