Please help first time Ford owner

I recently bought an older Ford truck from a gentleman and need some help on something. When I bought it he said the sending unit on the front tank was bad buut I could take it off of the back tank if I didn't need the back one. I removed the bed and took off the back fuel pump and shazoom the tank was full of water. Closed it back ... ok next tank. Opened the front and all was ok. I got a sending unit from pull a part and put it in and now the guage is pegged at full. The tank is about 3/4 full, but I mean it is PEGGED like past full. ??????????????????????? Will it hurt to leave the back tank as is? How do I drain it and just not use even though the water got in there somehow???

Got a factory ford radio from PAP also and when I put it in, the radio plays, but the clock doesn't work. Is there a fuse or do I need another one?

Thanks so much in advance for the help and oh yeah it is a 95 F150 long wheel base V6

For the gauge, check the tank selector switch. One time I was doing some work to my truck and forgot to plug it back in when I put the dash together. The gauge will keep going past full til it can't go no more. You didn't mention if the radio lit up or not when you turned it on. If the display isn't lit at all, its broken. Some electronics shop may able to repair it. I believe there is a button to toggle between the clock and the station display. I'm not sure because I don't have a stock radio in mine.

P.S. Welcome to the forum!

The clock doesn't keep time or it just never displays? If it never displays and there's no button saying CLOCK then you likely grabbed a radio from a Taurus or another ford that has the same radio but a clock somewhere else on the dash.

And welcome to FTE

As far as for the fuel switch, I never removed the dash so I haven't touched the switch

The radio came out of an F150. I actually took it out myself. It has a display, it just doesn't light up. The radio plays however, you just can't see what station. I assume it is broken. I was just wondering if there was a different fuse for the radio display and the "music" portion of the radio.

If your fuel selector switch wasn't plugged in the truck wouldn't run.
Radio is just 1 fuse that I know of.

I didn't know that about the switch. I realized something was wrong before I started the truck. Now that I think about it, my 95 does the same thing, when you switch tanks, the gauge keeps going and the truck dies. I believe this problem would be the sending unit itself, and I think you might have gotten a bad one from the pick a part. As for the radio, I'd say the display is broken. And speaking of radios from other Fords, I know my Gradmother's '94 Cougar has a clock button on it, but the clock is elsewhere on the dash. The radio was fixed under warranty many years back, so it may not be correct for the car.

The float attached to the outside of the fuel sending unit is what drives the gauge, so either it's dead or not connected. And the rear tank should be salvagable unless it is rusted badly inside, there's no reason you couldn't dump the water out, flush it, and install another sending unit. Might also be an idea to disconnect the lines and push some fuel through too to make sure there is no water in them either.

for your radio, pull a part should have to replace it free of charge. I bought one like that for a blazer once. and nothing worked. as for the gas tank. i had a 91 f150 that did the same thing with the gauge. check the tank gauge float and mae sure it isn't bent or damaged. I went thru one in a week because of it. ..... hope this helps
