Transmisson Code PO732

Got a 01 Escape XLT, 120,000 miles. Lost second gear. It revs up to 3500 rpm before shifting into 3rd and than OD. Shop says they can rebuild it for $2400. Can it be something else electronically to try before rebuild trans? Any help is appreciated.

What happens if you start off in second? I don't know autos well, but just basic reasoning is if it is behaving well in 1,3, and OD and just bypassing second, and you can take off in second via selector, then a rebuild is maybe not going to solve the problem, which could be something brain or sensor related instead.

Just googling P0732 and escape hit this Ford TSB's? - Street Car Forums - auto forum uniting car and race enthusiast everywhere! but the OP was asking for another DTC. However it does seem like there may be a TSB about 0732.

I don't know what to do. KBB has it about $3000. It needs some other stuff too, but can't afford new vehicle either.

Hi,

I have symptoms very similar to this case with answers to the line of reasoning you presented in this post here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...s-surface.html

Namely, my second selector registers and works fine and I'm trying to determine if its absolutely a broken band or on the way when these codes pop with shifting delays.

Thanks!
