i have 03 F350 with the 6.0 currently just over 150k miles. already replaced injectors and fuel pump regulator etc. im kinda concerned about head gaskets. is it safe to say if they havent gone yet that they more than likely wont? or is it still a possibility?
You can have no problems, the gaskets are not time related. Some owners had heat related problems due to the EGR or oil cooler plugging and some of us used performance tuning that raised the cylinder pressures beyond the capabilities of stock torque to yield head bolts.
oh. i do have an sct but havent used it since my injectors went out cuz i had some suspicion that it helped my injectors go out. (except when i put stacks on i had to use it for a bit to see the black smoke roll out lol) but when i did use it i did beat on the truck quite a bit as far as doing some short races with some local ricers. but when i had the programmer on and had the engine at higher rpms it would have a noticable miss to it. could i have a bad programmer?
Wenzel Auto Electric Company in mankato mn the biggest joke of a company ive ever seen. when i first when there they had a mess of starters alternators all over the floor and every piece of shelve space available but i understood some people work better this way. well this place dont. sold me a sct xcaliber 2 that i found out later to be 4 years old which was sold to me at full price. and is suppose to be able to use on 5 different vehicles (not at once but program to stock then swap to another compatible vehicle) well i tried using it in my buddies truck but couldnt because it exceed the vehicle count. called them up and tried figuring something out but they wouldnt work with me. then called sct tech support (which is when i found out he sold me a used programmer made in 2005) and they didnt help me out none either and didnt care to hear what i had to say about Wenzel Auto Electric Company that sold me it. leaves me done with sct.
alright i got my feelings out lol sorry for the long post but it was just three settings in it: tow performance and street. and all but tow would make my engine miss at higher rpms. i know i can get it custom tuned for my truck but theres no other place close and i wouldnt trust wenzel if someone paid me to go there so im at a lose what to do
The tune has to be for your specific strategy code and I would agree that he just sold you a used tuner. Now that you have been to the school of hard luck, you can call someone like Eric at Innovative Diesel. He can unlock your X-Cal and provide you with the right tuning for your vehicle. Extreme tuning requires head studs in the long run, so be specific about your needs.
would i have to send it out? im not looking for real high performance, just an economy mode and be able to blow some black smoke. with having a 6.0 i get nervous just driving it.
The files can be emailed to you, the tuner would have to be physically sent to Innovative if you want it erased and unlocked. If you discuss this he will load everything the first time, any upgrades can be emailed directly to you.

Unless SCT has changed the software that's availabe to people, you shouldn't have to send it in to be erased and unlocked unless the unit has exceeded it's 5 unlock limit(which is possible, I haven't seen anything about that yet), or the software to erase and unlock is no longer available.
