Improving gas mileage
Okay I am still new with the diesel and I am sure that this question has been asked quite a few times but just wanted to get some opinions. I just bought a 1996 F250 with 7.3 all stock motor love the truck and power over the gas motors. Gets a bought 16 mpg I drive like grandpa and don’t really need any more power (never thought I would say that) wondering what the best modes would be to improve gas mileage would like to get around 20+ mpg and have seen quite a few posts with people getting this kind of mileage. don’t want to spend a ridicules amount any advice would be greatly appreciated. To get to the 20mpg range, you will likely drive a 2wd with a manual transmission. Not necessarily, but 2wd and manual will help tremendous. Other than that, a 6637 mod on the intake, a 3" downpipe with straight exhaust, and a chip with a mileage tune. The most common chips that people here like are DP Tuner, PHP, Tony Wildman, and Swamps. I have swamps in my trucks, but wouldn't be afraid of any of these. DP is a site sponsor, and PHP is a member.
