I can't believe one station has pure gas and the other 50 that all buy their gas from the same distributor has 10%.
hey pete, do you think for the same price 10% is better than pure gas?
I actually dont mind 10%. Ethanol absorbs water that would otherwise not mix with gasoline in my tank, which saves me from having to put products such as heet in my tank. The properties of ethanol are good for keeping parts of my engine clean such as fuel injectors, valves, etc.
Because ethanol is an oxygenate, you are adding more oxygen with every squirt of your injector. This means more fuel can be added to compensate for the lower BTU content of ethanol. However this does come at the price of gas mileage.
To tell you the truth, I really dont care either way. I'm just not the type of person who will drive out of my way to make sure I dont get the "Evil" gas with 10% ethanol in it. If i'm filling up my truck, and they have E10 thats fine. If they have regular unoxygenated gasoline, that is fine too.
To all of you who claim things like the #6 cyl being burnt out of an engine due to ethanol, if you have any evidence to support that claim i'm sure wherever you purchased your fuel from would be more than happy to buy you a new motor. I know gas stations where I live such as Kwik Trip have it posted everywhere in their station that if you have damage due to their fuel, simply have the technician make a statement saying what the damages are, and the cause is fuel related, and they will take care of everything.
