Ranger Tranny ?????

Hey guys i usually stay on the 99-03 diesel forum. Great place. Now i have to venture out for some info so i didnt know any better place than here.

My buddy has a 94 ranger with a 2.0 and auto. We are trying to piece together a small mud toy. There is not much money tied up in it right now so we are trying to keep it that way. His tranny is out. He has another one with a 2.9 that is wrecked. Are the trannies the same? what else will fit in it?

Thank for the help in advance.

You might want to double check the engine size you referred to. Rangers didn't have a 2.0 available in 94. There was a 2.3 4cyl, 3.0 v6 & 4.0 v6. However, in 83 & 84 there was a 2.0 available for the Ranger. Some of the transmissions do interchange but you'll have to check more closely on bolt patterns and crankshaft mounts for that.

It looks like i was wrong in a couple places. Both truck are 94 models. One is a 4 cyl and the other is a 6cyl.
