frustrated and cold

This might be a dumb question but i have tried all my tools. I am trying to get the ignition module off my 88, 5.8L I have tried every socket that fits in the little hole but nothing will fit the bolts that hold it on the distibutor.
Can anybody tell me what size of socket it is supposed to be. Thanks.

I ground down the sides of a 7/32 1/4 inch drive six point socket.

No not a dumb question at all,

You need the special thin wall type socket, a specialty tool made for that module. No standard socket will get it.

Any auto parts should carry it, just ask for one.

I picked up a special Ford ignition module tool at Advance auto parts. Think it was around $5. Works like a charm.
Good Luck Frank

Yea you can grind one down, I did so once in a pinch with a "cheapo" twain socket but myself I like the tool, cheap and handy to have.

Has a nice "finger" **** so you can turn it by hand in a tight spot, a 1/2" wrench boss and can also be used with with a 1/4" drive ratchet.
