my 5 speed trans went out and i have an automatic that i am going to put in my 96 4x4 f150. i was told by my friend that i got the trans from that he thought it was a c6, but i dont know what to look for to tell for sure. any help would be appreciated. i know that a c6 has 17 bolts on the trans pan, but i dont know if any other transmissions are the same. thanks for any help.
yeah i know i might have to have the driveshafts lenghtened/shortend, and i also know about the crossmember, the trans is a 4x4 trans with the transfer case on it. also, is there a number on it i can check to find out what vehicle it came in so i know what filter to get for it? all the parts stores want to know what year vehicle it came out of, and i have no idea. im not sure what year trucks came with a c6, or if there were different filters for any of the transmissions
The only thing that might give you that info would be the tag on the servo cover. If that tag is missing, there's just a few different versions- 4x4 used a deeper pan, about 2" deep altogether, while car and 2wd truck used a pan about 1" deep from what I remember. I know the shift arms for car and truck are different, I think car points up and truck points down.
