Reality Check
Any diesel will cost more to maintain. Not sure how much a 6.0 or 6.4 takes for oil I know my 6.6 Dmax takes 10 qt for the engine. Granted this is more then a gas, but at the same time you have to buy diesel oil. If you get dino it's not bad, synthetic can be costly. Do some searching sure their is alot of info here. If not PM me and I will send you a link. Either way a 3/4 or 1 ton in general cost more, brakes, steering, ect...
However I will add I really don't care what I pull, truck can handle it, Ford, Chevy, Dodge shouldn't matter really. However the only thing I would say is if your legal or not as far as the trailer towing capacity and GVWR of the truck. Other then that, if you can't pull it something is wrong with your truck. That goes for all of the big 3.
In that spirit, I will also add this. Don't know how much of a deal it is with Ford's, but I do know alot of Chevy guys will put either 2 cycle (TC-W3 Marine grade) to their fuel, also Staydine, Diesel Kleen, Power Service, I use Opti- Lube XPD. This is for lubrication due to ULSD not having any. Do some searching you should find something. Point of that being. Take care of your truck it will last longer.
I use Opti-Lube because ULSD dose not have any (well a very little) lubrication, also has cleaner in it too. I will aso add that I bought mine at ( I think it was 89k, now have 107k runs great for a truck with known injector problems)
