Are there messages missing from this board? I know that there were many after my tailgate question and now I can't find them.

Go down to the bottom of the page, and click on the archived pages. Likely the message you're looking for has been "buried" by new posts and replies.

Your problem could be as simple as clicking the refresh button.... your computer might not be updating the page every time you log on.

I usually use the refresh option on the right click of the mouse. I find it works more consistently than my browsers refresh button.

The BBS is set to tell your browser not to cache the pages. This makes sure everything you see is up to date (assuming your browser honors the request) if others are posting at the same time you are. The unavoidable side of effect of this is that the banner ads get reloaded, slowing browsing down a little.
