curious about your rear bumper, the two brackets with holes that stick out from the face
some kind of attachment for something?????
I couldn't tell ya what that bumper came originially off of; its a home make angle iron; those brackets are some type of round hole attachment brackets; If i use them if would be for pulling a chassis around the shop yard to the paint booth or so!
Thanks for the comments; not good at the old pic posting routine, but every now & then I can figure out how to post a pic.
The picture link I posted was taken behind my work fire station! Can't wait to take a pic or two with the fire trucks in front of the station; we have a 1931 Seagrave that we restored in house station on display at my current station along with a 200 Ferrara Pumper as well.
i see the gas cap on the bed. what did you use for a fuel tank for the highboy frame?
im kinda in the same process. going to put a 79 f150 4wd cab on my 76 highboy.
I used the 76 F150 fuel tank; turned everything 90 degrees; Originially the sending unit faces forward; its now facing toward the drivers side of the frame rail; I straighten out the fuel line to run along the drivers side; this place the fuel hole from the filler neck towards the rear facing the rear bumper; I reverse the straps from front to rear to left to right, the straps are in the same location (bands on top and brackets on bottom). Only difference I redrill brackets to bolt to frame which is 4 1/2" narrower; and had to alongate the straps with all-thread bolts welded to run / bolt to passenger side on top of frame rails; along & across top portion of tank towards the drivers side where I welded the all thread and drill two hole (one each strap) roughly at a 30 to 40 degree angle in the lower portion of the frame on the drivers side to hold the tank in place. I used the oem filler neck & hose; had my muffler shop bend a 16 to 18 inch section of 2 2 1/4" pipe with one 60 degree elbow between filler neck hose and the opening into the fuel tank; where I added some filler neck hose from another section to clamp to the tank opening and muffler pipe. hope this makes sense. The extended fuel line hoses run from center rear of tank over & between frame rail (drivers side) and below bed floor to originial opening in the 76 bed. to inculde the roughly 3/4" air circulating hose; don't know the proper name was extended using heater hose.
Again harder to explain then do; I have pictures taken but not with means to send to you; If I did I would send them.
hope this helps. If you got any other questions while my old mind is still fresh just pm me.
