New guy here

Hey everyone, I found this forum looking for some help for my next purchase

heres some details:

I have a 2006 F-250 xlt extended cap superduty with an 8ft bed ~ 106k that I'm going to be trading in for an excursion

I needed something that will fit my family of 7 so I thought of the excursion

I picked the excursion also because I have about a 5k radio in my truck that I'de like to reuse when I switch vehicles.

heres my question

gas-v10 vs 7.3 powerstroke. what are the pros and cons of each? I'm prettty sure im set on the 7.3 I just thought ide ask you guys

and maybe the 6.0 but ive read they always have problems

thanks

oh here we go.... I'll just ask two questions - what do you have in your F250 and do you like it?

Here's a recent thread for you while you're waiting on responses:

Wow...that's a heavy radio!

tdappleman had asked you what ENGINE powers your F250? Do you like it?

Chances are that you'll find more V10 powered Excursion than 7.3s, those V10 powered trucks also stand a greater chance of having lower miles and in general better condition. But there's a real nice 7.3 powered Excursion on eBay right now.

yeah the radios on the expensive side but it was well worth the cost

my truck has a 5.4 v8 that is ok, i wouldnt get it again, its a gas hog, i just had to replace something yesterday that cost $800!!

I've looked around the last few days for them, your right there is a lot of v10 excursions. Whats the link to that 7.3 excursion? I wonder if i saw it

Welcome to the site you will like it here for sure.. Tons of info and pics on here. settle in and enjoy the ride...
One of the reasons I got the Excursion was for the family. We love to go camping every year and always with a group of friends. My 7.3 has been through some changes (for the better) and it just keeps me happy!!! I've got a lot of help with small to big problems and it seems everyone knows there stuff...
Have fun and hope you get the answers your loking for, wouldnt and couldnt find a better truck then the "X"

I went through the same thing.......needed a bigger vehicle for our growing family and one that would pull my camping trailer safely. I decided to go with a 7.3l as I wanted the diesel for longevity and MPG and I just like them. I also have a 70 mile RT commute so I can afford to drive the diesel to work if I want, probably would not have worked out well with a gas motor for me. I decided to go 2wd instead of a 4wd to save $$$$, plus I have two other 4x's for when the roads are bad. Ended up purchasing a 2000 Limited with 159k miles on it last August. 20k miles later I could not be any happier (except when it snows and I have to drive the other truck).

Nice - good find. If you don't mind - what did was asking/selling price? May help others on the board in their searches. Welcome to the Ex family!

Yup good guess. I payed a little over 17k after all the fine details at the dealer. In a week I've put over 1,300 miles on it and I can tell I'm saving money in gas compared to my old F250.
