Unfortunently its time for a new set of tires. I went with the nitto's last time and am not happy with them. I have a 2" leveling kit on my truck and am currently running 285/75/16 but wouldnt mind something a little bigger. What do you guys think about the maxxis tires (buckshot & Bighorn)? There prices seem good and ive read good reviews from other places so I just wanted to check and see what you guys thought about the sizes and tires. What about 305/70/16, oh yeah im using the stock rim still. Thanks guys for any input.
I have no experience with the brands you listed. I've been running BFG's for several years and they have provided good service regarding wear and traction. They are not cheap but it like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.
I also use BFG's,jsut picked up set of 33" KM2's".the are the new mud terrain w/ tread pattern very simailar to there very expensive crawler tire.i love the tires, little bit of a hum from the aggresive tread but nothing to bad,but were not driving cadillac's on this site anyway...lol.i bought my tires for about $220 a piece from local discount tire.highly recommend KM2's,great for all weather, dont be scared off by "mud terrain" label.
a few guys that i know including my self run bfg at revo and they are awesome. nice even tread wear and no road noise. i have them on my f150 nad my friend have them on a f250. i paid about 600 for mine and my buddiy paid about 900 for his but he put 10 ply tires on his.
Anything on the sizes guys? My buddy has a 4x4 f-250 not sure if its leveled or not but running 315/75's and it sounds horrible when he tries to turn from all the rubbing, ignoring the fact he's running bald nitto's on the front and bought two new km2's on the back 6 months ago and left the fronts bald because he couldnt afford all 4...
my KM2's are 285/75/17 which i think is about 32.75" and truck is stock suspension hieght,no rubbing what so ever and fill the wheel wells just enough. i have 4 door short bed and my originals just looked a little tiny under there.
forgot to add that the only issue i have w/ KM2's is the E rated tire doesnt come in all sizes so i had to go w/ a D rated tire.i only pull my jeep to the offroad parks in the area so my loads arent very heavy,no problem w/ the D's
I have BFG A/T on mine now and was actually thinking of buying the Nittos when these wear out. I bought my truck used with 63K on it and I think these tires have been on since 35 or 40k. They still have plenty of tread left and I have 80k miles on it now. They have held up very well as far as I'm concerned.
I was just wondering what you did not like about the Nittos?
The nitto's just never seemed to have anything that impressed me about them. Im not overly dissatisfied with them or overly happy, the tread IMO could have been more aggressive or even just more tread period and the traction never seemed to really impress me when going through mud compared to my other tires. Also it could be due to the 8 ply but the tires seem to sag a good bit. I wouldnt advise you not to get them but if your looking for something to make you proud I dont think they will do it.
whats the with of the rim?i have a set of 39.5"x13.5" super swampers on a 17"x9" rim on one of my jeeps and never have an issue till i lower pressure below 7psi.i dont see why u would have and issue.
