doesnt that locker act as a limited slip when not engaged? or is that the auburn elocker.
keep us posted.
No. Its a full spool when on and an open diff when off. I've been running one in my 8.8/9" hybrid for 5.5 years. I actually have one for the front but haven't got around to getting it installed.
Edit: The Auburn Ected works like a ls when off and locker when on. The Detroit Electrac was like a truetrac when off as well.
96, if you could access the control panel on this forum and put info regarding your rig in the signature field that would greatly help us when giving advise.
I am curious what size tires your running? there is a huge development thread going on Pirate4x4 regarding this locker and hows its been failing for folks running full size rigs and large tires. there is a new design change coming that should clear all this up. if i can find the thread i will try to post it but sometimes the forum will thump me for doing that so you might search yourself.

Ok, I pulled the cover and put the Bronco up on jack stands. No shavings found in the bottom of the housing.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> I started it up and engaged the locker. The locker needed the wheels to roll a bit to lock. So I took my foot off the break and let the wheels spin at idle. I let it idle a bit then hit the break and repeated this for a while.
<o></o> While doing this the locker would unlock and lock all by itself. My buddy and I both took turns looking at it to verify that that was what it was doing. (Note) the e-locker engagement button is a orange lit ¾ inch button and it never went off while the locker cycled.
<o></o> We checked the voltage going to the relay and there was no change. We checked the voltage where the wires go into the diff housing and there was no change.
<o></o> So there must be something wrong inside the locker itself, making it cycle. So I pulled it and I’ll ship it to Jeff’s on Monday. I can’t ship directly to Eaton, all warranties have to go through the place you bought it. I’ll update when I find something out.
Sounds like you have a bad connection at the electro-magnet inside. The windings that create the magnet (coil) itself could be the culprit here. or even something as simple as a weak solder point to the winding.

I called Eaton, the problem is the “ramp plate”. Barney at Eaton relayed our finding to the engineers and they had the answer in a few minutes. They’re going to send me a new one. I’ve got to tell you Eaton has really good customer service.
